Hi! I’m Alix.

THE MIND BEHIND THE DESIGN

about

Hi, I’m Alix. I’ve been working in digital design and strategy for over a decade. I tackle challenges with companies large and small.

I believe design should enrich our quality of life and be used as a tool for inclusion & representation. My approach merges conscientiousness with artistic vision, where clear-cut processes matter as much as visual impact.

While currently based on Western Canada's Sunshine Coast, situated between the beach and the rainforest, you will likely encounter me as a smiling square on Zoom.

Looking for a digital strategist to champion your next project? I’d love to learn more.

Wait, is this one person or an agency?

The answer is it’s usually just me, Alix, working with you, but we grow and shrink based on demand. Some clients also get to work with our project coordinator and copywriter extraordinaire Trish (who also happens to be a food literacy & fisheries educator if you’re into that).

Other creatives and technical experts from our professional community also tag along on certain projects, depending on how you’d like to work and what you need.

what i value

Kindness

That means: I treat you with humanity and respect, and choose to work with kind folks on my team and as clients.

Clarity

That means: Clear expectations with no money or scheduling surprises. Clarity is the focus of the design process, as well.

Collaboration

That means: Your insight is gold. You’re part of my process. Sometimes we put our brains together to figure stuff out.

Efficiency

That means: I work quickly, and strategically to not waste precious time, like the good German I am.

I strive to foster an inclusive, safe space for the humans I work with. You are welcome in this workspace as you are.

Currently

a few random facts

I’m half Québecoise half German, I speak french and not-bad german.

I have a degree in Information & Communication Design, completed in Germany.

I’ve visited nearly 40 countries. I’m into caves, UNESCO World Heritage sites & new foods.

I’m an avid gardener and grow food for my household.

What does “Hops & Vines” mean?

It refers to my two surnames, and incidentally my two cultures (Hops gardener in German, Small vines in French).

It’s the two sides of me that make me a unique designer to work with: my analytical and professional German side, and my artistic & open-minded Franco side.
